About MeI am originally from Colorado, but moved away to go to Hiram, which is a liberal arts college in NE Ohio. There I studied religion and politics, while continuing to take a heavy math/science load. It wasn't until the year after I graduated that I fell in love with teaching math/science to 10-14 year olds, when I became an outdoor school instructor. Ever since then I've been involved in education, even finishing a Master's Degree in Teaching along the way.
This is My second year at Twality and I am excited to work with my new partner Kim Dwyer. |
Why I teach math? |
When I was 12, I bought a book with every baseball stats sheet ever and spent hours memorizing box scores. I know that your child might not be as passionate about math as I was in 6th grade, but I expect all students to be able to use math effectively. They should be able to separate good data from bad, recognize when to use a calculator, demonstrate algebraic thinking, and estimate effectively. By June 2018, I hope this happens.

Why I teach Science?
|
So that students and hopefully their families can understand their natural world. I love teaching science and can't wait to inspire your 12 year olds.
